The Trainer Residence, on a hundred acre ranch named “Sage Ridge” in Carmel Valley, was the last residential project of iconic architect George Brook-Kothlow, which he designed in collaboration with architect partner, Dennis Hodgin. The project is currently being built by North Star Construction.

The pioneering design is unique, ambitious and difficult to label (see work in progress photos at www.northstarofcarmel.com). The way in which natural lighting and passive solar gain were incorporated into the design will become a model for architecture in the future, eliminating any excuses for green design that isn’t beautiful, or beautiful design that isn’t green.

This home will also be featured in the upcoming book on the works of George Brook-Kothlow, California Green, by Richard Olsen. The event will be hosted by general contractor Alfred Seccombe. The tour of the site will be guided by the landscape designer, Barkley David Smith, and the building tour will be led by architect Dennis Hodgin, AIA.
