Mandy Freeland, AIA
Mandy Freeland, AIA, is the founder of Mandy Freeland, Architect, Inc. located in Bakersfield, CA, a firm that provides services to commercial, multi-family, and education project types. She brings her diverse education in Communications and Public Relations to the architecture world, providing extended services in Planning, Environmental Branding, Graphics, Wayfinding, and Textile Design. She has developed widespread knowledge of project types during her eighteen years in the industry and has created projects in the commercial, hospitality, retail, restaurant, hotel, manufacturing, industrial, religious, multi-family, education, medical, and residential project types, both for public and privately funded clients. Mandy’s projects are spread across five states.
Barry Giles, CEO, The Net Zero Existing Buildings Company
After an extensive career in commercial construction in 3 countries, Barry moved to the US and joined the USGBC Existing Building Core Committee to help create the LEED Operations and Maintenance rating system for existing buildings in 2003. Since then, Barry was awarded a LEED Fellowship and has focused his consulting work with many of the iconic buildings on the west coast. A true thought leader in the existing building industry, Barry brought BREEAM to the USA to address a changing marketplace and to enable a more diverse building stock of existing buildings to improve. Barry has worked in virtually every aspect of the building industry —engineer, general contractor, systems operator and facilities supervisor. His breadth of experience gives him particularly astute insight and inspires his strong, practical approach to sustainability in buildings.
Andrew Goodwin, AIA, LEED AP
Architect, Andrew Goodwin Designs, Executive Board Director, AIA California Central Coast. Andrew has worked on projects across the states and internationally. In 2012, Andrew co-founded the design-build firm ConsciousBuild, Inc. in an effort to dedicate his design passion towards more environmentally, economically, and socially responsible projects around the world, In 2014 Andrew became one of the youngest architecture faculty members at California Polytechnic State University, in San Luis Obispo. Andrew received the 2017 Norma Sklarek Award from the AIA California. The award honors the late Norma Sklarek, FAIA. The purpose of the award is to publicly recognize an architect making significant humanitarian contributions to society.
