Sacramento in 2021 – What We Can Expect

With the California State Legislature in Session and about to actively consider and vote on legislation, Mark Christian, Hon. AIA CA, the AIA CA Director of Government Relations, will talk about the political climate in Sacramento and about legislation that may be under consideration of interest to the architectural profession.  Topics will include a possible sales tax on services, housing, building performance, and continuing education.

Mark Christian, Hon. AIA CA, is the Director of Government Relations for the AIA California, a\ position he has held since 1999.  In this position, Mark is responsible for monitoring the CA State Legislature, identifying bills of interest to the profession, developing and implementing strategies for the positive outcome of legislation of interest to the profession, and representing the profession before the legislature.  Prior to joining the AIA CA, Mark worked for the State Assembly for nine years in several capacities, including as a policy consultant on several environmental laws.
