Presenter: Erica McBride, Arch Nexus
Arch Nexus is an award winning multi-disciplinary design firm in California’s Central Valley. With projects serving the western United States, Arch Nexus focuses on purposeful design that serves the health, happiness, and productivity of the people in their communities.
This presentation will look at design standards as part of the Living Building Challenge using Arch Nexus’ Sacramento and Salt Lake City offices as case studies. We will learn about general water conservation strategies used in the design, including natural site hydrology responses, low-flow fixtures, occupant behavior, and “hand-printing” as a strategy for water conservation and wastewater reduction, as well as the feasibility of implementing similar water conservation strategies here on the Monterey Peninsula.
We will discuss a range of systems, including those for rainwater, grey water, and composting toilets as a strategy for black water. Please join us as we Identify available resources and guides to help owners and design teams navigate non-traditional water systems permitting process.
