A panel comprised of a local concrete supplier, a contractor, a structural engineer and a building official, will convene to discuss the basics of low embodied carbon of concrete and what makes up high-performance Green Concrete (HPGC). The talk will include immediate steps that can be taken to reduce a building’s carbon footprint when specifying concrete and explain how to prioritize design strategies to get the greatest carbon footprint reductions in carbon footprint by utilizing using current technologies and design tools. We will discuss how to develop concrete specifications that are attainable and have positive impact. We will discuss the importance of early design collaboration and buy-in among all parties. We will explore various local high-profile projects where high-performance sustainable Green Concrete has been used.
