Emerging Professionals

In April 7, 2011

The Emerging Professionals are currently represented by Steven Diaz , Assoc. AIA.   (steven@fletcherhardoin.com     831.373.5855).

Steven Diaz is an architectural designer working at Fletcher + Hardoin Architects. He has been in the architecture field since 1998 and has focused on high-end residential homes and sustainable architecture. He is currently implementing Revit for construction documents and Revit Live for design and  client visualization.

Steven has a BARCH from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and is a member of Build IT Green. Currently he is working on his taking the ARE exams for eventual licensure.

Experience through the years as an EP has shown him that a good team makes “a good project” , “a great project” from design to construction.  His philosophy is to make architecture fun and interesting with new ideas, new building techniques or revisit old ones and refine them with help from consultants. He believes the more we know, the more we are respected at the jobsite, by colleagues and by our future clients.  If we tackle the ARE as we do a project (as a team), each person will have their strengths and for the areas that we are not strong there will be someone on the team to help guide us to the next step.

The committee has been based in a wide range of activities including, but not limited to:

  • Study groups and the dissemination of study material from the Chapter’s updated lending library in order to assist Associates currently taking their Architectural Registration Exams or California Supplemental Exams
  • Social events and gatherings to provide networking opportunities among fellow Emerging Professionals and to connect the local Emerging Professionals with the Chapter at large
  • Community outreach through volunteering and design activism
  • Representation of our local Emerging Professionals at both the State and National levels

8/2016 newsletter provided a lot of great information on the latest changes with NCARB and the ARE exam format. It also has some helpful links, including one to the new ARE Guidebook 5.0. If you are taking, or thinking of taking, your licensing exams, this is a good resource. View Here or go directly to the ARE Guidebook 5.0 here.
