Wright is best known as the architect of the Imperial Hotel\, Tokyo\, which survived one of the biggest earthquakes in Japanese history\, virtually undamaged\, on its opening day\, September I\, 1923. He had a fascination with Japanese art all his life\, viewing it as a tourist\, as a collector\, and sometimes as a dealer.
