SUMMARY:OPTIMIZING WATER EFFICIENCY IN MULTI- FAMILY AND SINGLE-FAMILY HOMES
DESCRIPTION:This course will provide you with an overview of the business case surrounding green building for single-family and multi-family homes. Registration is required for attendance recording and certificate of completion. \nThe green building movement has challenged manufacturers\, design teams\, and owners to create products and designs that have a minimal impact on the environment while contributing to the health and well-being of those who live and work in the built space. One of the concerns driving the changes? \nWe can no longer rely on an endless supply of potable water – in parts of the US\, as well as across the globe. This course will explore how to earn indoor water use reduction credits in green building rating systems\, such as LEED v4 and WaterSense. We will focus on plumbing fixtures and fittings that are aesthetically pleasing and have been thoughtfully designed to maximize the efficiency of indoor water use without sacrificing performance by the end-user. \nObjectives: \n\nReview the evolution of the green building movement and its legislation pertaining to health and safety\nUnderstand the dynamics driving the green building movement for single-family and multi-family residences\nReview the water efficiency requirements and credits in several green building programs for homes\nReview examples of water-efficient\, high-performing plumbing fitting and fixtures\nExplore solutions that may increase water efficiency in single family and multi family residences
