SUMMARY:AIA CA Climate Action Webinar: Designing for Zero Net Carbon
DESCRIPTION:AIA CA Climate Action Webinar: Designing for Zero Net Carbon\n3 Case Studies\, All Electric Buildings \nDate/Time: Wednesday\, April 13\, 2022\, 11:30 a.m. -1 p.m.\, Pacific Time\nLearning Units: 1.5 LU | HSW\n \nSpeakers:\nEdward Dean\, FAIA LEED AP BD+C\, PhD\, Principal | Bernheim + Dean\, Inc Sustainable Building Consultants\n \nDescription:\nEdward Dean\, FAIA\, will present case studies of three common building types\, designed as all-electric buildings to achieve zero-net-energy performance\, that will operate with zero-carbon emissions once the California electric grid has been 100% decarbonized\, currently scheduled for 2045. This program will review the design strategies for each project\, discuss the readily available all-electric building systems utilized by the design teams and present measured post-occupancy performance data that supports the achievement of ZNE. Mr. Dean will discuss tools\, metrics\, and modeling used by the design team in pursuit of the performance goals\, and will highlight exemplary features of the various projects\, discuss problems encountered and lessons learned that can help other practitioners to achieve similar levels of performance in their own projects.\n \nRegister here\nMore information and additional resources can be found here: https://aiacalifornia.org/

SUMMARY:2030 Commitment and Practice: A Culture of Firm Excellence | LPA | AIA CA Climate Action Webinar
DESCRIPTION:1 LU | HSW for attending. \nURL: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_w74f-qKUSdetTo21F0KgEw \nLPA\, AIA CA’s 2021 Firm Award Recipient\, will provide insights into how they use the AIA 2030 Commitment as a transformative tool to influence design practice and reduce predicted carbon emissions. LPA is the largest firm whose AIA 2030 Commitment portfolio exceeded the 70% pEUI reduction target for 2019.  LPA will share their approach to professional development and knowledge sharing\, promoting a firm culture that strives for high performance buildings and design excellence.

SUMMARY:Efficient Net Zero Energy Buildings: Case Studies of 3 Building Types | AIA CA Climate Action Technical Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Ed Dean\, FAIA will present Case Studies of All-electric buildings that have achieved Zero Net Energy and greatly reduced greenhouse gas emissions from operation. He will describe the goals and design intentions for each project\, discuss design decisions the Architects made to achieve very deep reductions in greenhouse gas emissions\, and present measured post-occupancy performance data that supports the “zero” level of performance. Earn 1 LU | HSW for attending.

SUMMARY:Member Benefit Program: Energy Modeling with cove.tool
DESCRIPTION:Shifting energy codes are challenging architects with a wide array of parameters to balance like energy\, cost\, daylight\, views\, and embodied carbon. Join this session diving into two case studies to generate beautiful analysis graphics and see how to shape the narrative in a data driven design process. AIA CA members who attend will receive a 4-week complimentary cove.tool license following the webinar.
