DESCRIPTION:What is Mid-Century Modern (MCM) in California and the U.S.?\nSPEAKER: PIERLUIGI SERRAINO\nThis talk spells out the architectural themes that distinguish the Mid-Century Modern period from the large trajectory of Modernism. A definite set of attributes gives distinct character to the architecture of this time span\, with variations across the country that will be pointed out for the audience. California Modernism is a firm point in the annals of Modern Architecture. Here the focus is on the geographical areas within the Golden State that have the highest concentration of MCM projects\, a great many of them lasting masterpieces revered to this date.
